Unhappy My daughters' baby pigeon died

My boyfriend went down to check on the pigeons earlier this week and found the baby out in the middle of the floor, laying flat out , crop empty and sunken in he picked it up and it was ice cold, he thought for sure it was dead, But then it moved its' leg so we got it up stairs , got it warmed up and started hand feeding it, it was doing fine, then when i picked it up yesterday to feed it it was ice cold again, it's eyes wouldn't open, it wouldn't even eat

So we tried to get warm again but nothing was working, except when my boyfriend cupped it in his hands and would blow on it, got it warm again long enough to eat and i put it back in I was using a small fish tank with towels and a heat light

We got up this morning and my boyfriend took the towel off and picked it up and he was dead

his dad was here last night and said it wouldn't make it through the night if it was him he'd just kill it (but I couldn't do it, my b/f asked me if that what i wanted done, I said if you do do it, DO NOT tell me about it and just tell my girl he died in his sleep)

the only thing we can fiqure is there was something wrong with it, and that is why the mom stopped carring for it because she did great at first, she was always sitting on him, always had a full crop then out of the blue she stopped

and since the parent(animals anyway) know when something is wrong with thier young way before us humans do, it is highly possiable

but any way, I had to tell my daughter this morning that her baby pigeon died she took it better than I did
