This sounds like normal behaviour to me.

I think the louder 'screeching' you're worried about is a normal budgie noise that most budgies do make. Budgies have a gentle chirping, a normal squawk and then the screech. And it's just how they communicate so I'm pretty sure this is completely normal behaviour.
