There's a very big difference when dealing with a natural bird death in it's old age and a shocking and tragic one like you have experienced.
Firstly, stop blaming yourself.
You loved Novi. You did nothing that endangered your bird. There were just a tragic incident that happened and you lost your baby.
Everyone deals with grief differently.
People who tell you to get a new pet are possibly reacting to the loss the way they would if it were their loss, so you have to do what feels right for you.
A new pet would never be a replacement for Novi, but a chance to give a new bird friend a chance of a happy life with you.
I think when *you* are ready, a new friend would be good for you.
It wouldn't be the same and should never be thought of as a replacement, just a new friend for you to care for.
Do things that make you happy.
Try not to think about Novi and that one tragic moment, but the happiness you shared.
Try to find a creative way to express your emotions- writing, drawing, painting- even if you don't think you're good at any of them, if it helps *you* keep trying and it will lessen the pain in time. *hugs*
