I may have provided misinformation.
I was going from my experience with male and female peach faced lovebirds rather than actual "fact". I should know better!

From my further research, I've found that while "tucking" the shredded paper is considered to be "primarily" a female trait, occasionally a male will "tuck" but it is not common for them to do so.
Shredding is done by both males and females.

Keep in mind that like the other indications of male/female for lovebirds, (flatter head for a female, wider stance, fan-shaped tail, etc.) nothing is for certain without a DNA test or if you see the bird laying an egg.
