Default How to 'Quick Reply' to a Post

You may have seen this feature at the bottom of a thread, but you're not sure exactly why it's there. This article will explain the purpose of quick reply.

Sometimes you don't feel like waiting for many pages to load just to type a reply to a thread. Or maybe you're in a rush and need to get your post out quickly. These are just a couple reasons to use quick reply.

Quick reply performs the exact same function as a regular reply (hitting a reply button to reply to a thread). The only difference is that it's, well, quick. You don't have to wait for the reply page to load, wait for the post to send, then wait for the thread page to load. In fact, you don't even have to refresh the page to view your post after it's sent! This can be especially useful for those still on dial-up or those who are impatient.

The only bad part about using quick reply is that it isn't as feature-rich as full reply mode. There are some basic formatting buttons, and that's it. You can't change font, create lists, etc. unless you know the codes.

Don't fret. If you start typing your reply in quick reply and realize you need the extra formatting tools, simply click the Go Advanced button at the bottom of the quick reply form. This will save your post and redirect you to full reply mode.
