That little bird was part of your life since you were a teenager. As well as his loss, it could symbolize the end of an era for you. It is only to be expected that his loss will hurt so much. Looking at his pictures a lot will help replace your last image of him dead as the first thing that pops into your head when you think of him.

When you feel ready for animal companionship again, you could always consider a different species. I have lost 1 dog, 4 cats and 8 birds in the last 30 years, most since joining the list. They all hurt, they were all mourned for in different ways and to different degrees, but they are all important to me.

If you are a loner, an animal companion is a good thing. A dog would give you reason to get out of the house. I also have a son at home who just turned 30 a few days ago.

Cutie Pie, Olive, Budgie, Baby Boy, Star, Pepper, Ariel, Oscar, Charlie, Little One, Chiclet.
Cutie Pie, Olive, Ariel, Little One and Chiclet are children of Budgie and Oscar.
Budgie and Star left us in 2009. Pepper and Oscar left us this year, 2010. 2018 and all are gone. Ariel and Cutie Pie died this Feb and March. Both over 11 years old.
