I am so sorry for your loss. It is good you joined this forum, because we understand what you are going through.
11 years is a very good age for a budgie, but it is always too early for them to leave us.
I understand that you don't want another budgie. I lost one beloved budgie after 14 years and also did not want another one. Now I regret those "petless" years.
If you don't want a bird, then a dog would be good. When you are ready, there is a special pet for you, maybe at a shelter?
