Awe, you're so sweet! And, you know, once you get the technique down it doesn't take so long to do the feathers. I'll admit the chicks' pin feathers took some time and patience
Alright, I believe these last two conclude my budgie-themed portfolio. I've entertained the thought of making it a general bird theme so I could submit the quail pieces I did earlier in the running. So another bird painting may be making an appearance to tie it all together. I have some previous pieces that I may consider as well. I'm going to have another artist fully critique and weigh in which 8 I should choose for this portfolio. Then it's on to the horse-themed!
Here's the finished product...thinking of calling it "Feather Dusting" or something. That was the idea of the feather-light sprinkles of paint and then, of course, the feather in the beak. Featuring chubby baby Hermes
For this final piece, I wanted to do something abstract. Inspired by a candled budgie egg!
Masking fluid (my favorite)
Started to have the look of a galaxy so tried to continue that theme...you'll see the veins later look a bit like a comet. The fun thing with abstract is it's up to the individual to interpret what they're seeing!
Some of my favorite watercolor colors
The portfolio also allows photographs to be submitted if they tie into the theme, so I've done some very basic editing on one of my favorite budgie photos! It will be sepia, but if the artist likes the foundation, I'll be doing some serious editing beyond this on it!
