Many of you are probably a little surprised to find these names in this breeding journal. You were probably expecting to see one for Echo and Charlie. Believe me, I would've loved that. Their mutations were prime to talk about for my senior project. I think Echo was just a little too young (just over one year). I may try to breed him next year as I still have my heart set on some cinnamons!!
So, let me explain all of this
A while back I brought in another hen from the same breeder as Charlie. I wanted to have her handy to pair with Hermes as a backup so I would at least have some chicks and genetics to show for my senior project. I kept her on the down-low as I wasn't sure if she would come to light and didn't want to make confusion introducing another bird only to give her back. After giving Echo and Charlie every opportunity, I handed the reins over to Hermes and Aphrodite. I named her so to keep the Greek mythology theme I have going with Hermes and because, you know, I'm a nerd. I also figured they would need all the help they could get, so I figured naming her after the goddess of love wasn't a bad thing.
"Dee," as I call her, has been the sweetest girl. She took to the nest not even 24 hours after I put it in. Today she laid her first egg!!
Okay, let me introduce you to the two parents. I am super excited to see their chicks; they'll be gorgeous!! Some of you may remember Herm from last summer. Here is his breeding thread: https://www.talkbudgies.com/breeding...rmes-izzy.html
Hermes is a SF Goldenface SF Dominant Pied Cobalt Fullbody Greywing
And a chubby baby picture. I love how he's matured!
I would love confirmation on Dee's mutation. Let me know if I missed anything! Aphrodite is a SF Violet Opaline Cobalt girlie.
Their gorgeous eggo
And the happy couple tonight. Hermes has been a most attentive mate, as always. Such a sweet boy. Would love a Sky Blue SF Goldenfact SF Dominant Pied out of these two.
