Default Halp! Support needed!

I was at the pet store the other day getting food for Mexico and Ice, and I saw a tiny little blue girl! She was the smallest budgie I have ever seen, and didn't even have baby bars any more! I almost bought her... I had the money in my pocket. If I had bought her, It would have messed up a lot of stuff. I really don't need another budgie right now, never mind, I'm not even supposed to buy from pet stores.
I am a bit down right now because she was so cute, and I want her so badly! I need support. (Sniffs)

Thank you in advance,

-Tia

Tia, I think you've made a good decision by not bringing the little girl home. As you know, the dynamics would surely change, and your boys are doing so well together.. Mexico and Ice are a healthy and happy pair of good friends. She would have surely been the third wheel, or... even worse, though boys are never supposed to let a girl get between them and ruin a good friendship, it can happen . Not to mention you'd need to get another cage as well as the bird. So no you have an awesome balance with "Mexico and Ice". We don't need "Mexico and Ice and 'Someone'" Great job!

The temptation is always going to be there, I know!
I have now started to buy my food from a agricultural store instead of the pet store this helps me cope.
I too ,used to go directly to the cages and stand there admiring the budgies and feeling sorry for them.
But we do have to be strong as you have and are doing for the best health, care and welfare of our birds we have at home.
Well done for being strong.

Well done with regard to walking away!

I find it best to stay away from pet stores an order my supplies on-line.

Additionally, we really don't want to support those big-box pet stores who get their budgies from birdie-mills!

You did well to resist. This is the problem with cute adorable budgies and those sweet little faces- you just want to take them all home but you were great to resist!

Evemarine is on a distinguished road
Default My thoughts

Hi Therm ,
I think you did well to resist. Even as a newbie I understand!
Great comments from everyone too
I believe if things are meant to be they will find a way to happen - so if you resisted it was for a good reason. It is hard once you've seen a little face I know!

I hate to think of animals as 'purchases', but if I'm in doubt about buying something, I make a rule to wait a week and see if I'm still thinking about it- if so -then I reconsider again after having had a good think on the pros and cons. I'm not encouraging you to go back - I'm just saying what I do if I'm in two minds about something. It often means I'm a good girl!

I can imagine taking a 3rd budgie could cause problems - you may even need to get a 4th as a mate to the new one to avoid squabbles...and thus more expense and work.

Maybe at another time that's better for you, you might find a rescue budgie - I see so many ads for budgies that have been thoughtlessly purchased and within weeks are not wanted.

Give your beautiful two an extra tickle and pat yourself on the back for being strong.

Eve x

At some point I was going to the pet store so often to look at budgies because I cannot resist, I am sure the people work at the pet shop thought I was crazy. I was finding excuses to go look at the tiny lil budgies, cuteness is irresistible. now I only go to buy food or new toy for Cloud, but all the people recognize at the pet store
