So Greyjoy has been here two weeks now and we've made great progress with him eating from my hand for the last few days. Some times he approaches me quickly and other times it takes a while. Today tho he wants nothing to do with me, he keeps scooting to the corner of his cage and won't look at me, he's also been very quiet. I don't think it's a medical issue (he's eating, drinking & pooping normally) I think he just wants to be left alone. Should I give him the room for a while? Is it normal for budgies to want alone time? I wondered if maybe he was mad at me for going to work since it takes a little time after I get home for him to warm up to me or if perhaps the weather was getting him down ( we haven't seen the sun in days) I turned up the heat a little and put on his budgie videos but he's just so standoffish that I'm leaving him be, however I'm afraid it will set us back if I back off too much. He did take a few nibbles from me but I don't want to push him. I know I'm being silly, I'm just kind of bummed because I thought we were doing well. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Kristina
I agree with faerybee.sometimes they just want some alone time.like us humans they have there days.but oth2r times they just can't get enough of attention lol.Blessings always

I agree, he just didn't feel like it, I suppose. Another consideration is that he might just now be fully settling into his cage and has stopped being submissive like he might have been that first week home. Just give him some time and keep working with him slowly at his pace and I'm sure he'll soon be happy to spend time with you
