(I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, please redirect me if I am wrong)
A couple of weeks back I purchased a new budgie, Noodle, and recently posted a thread about taming. A few people (thankfully!) told me about quarantining her to make she passes on no diseases to my older bird, Jojo.
She has been put in a separate cage for bonding with me, but as I did not know about quarantining her, I introduced Jojo and Noodle to each other by placing their cages by each other.
Noodle, who now resides in my room, chirps constantly, replying to Jojo and scrabbles around her cage in attempt to get to Jojo.
She seems distressed now that she knows another budgie is around, and I don't know what to do for her, any advise is welcomed and appreciated!
JoTaMi is correct. Play music in each of the rooms which will help mask the noise both of the birds make.
It is also very important you spend time with each of the budgies every day. Quarantine is only 45 days long and it will be over before you know it! Use the time to work with each of the budgies individually on taming and then when they are re-introduced (in neutral territory) they will both be more likely to accept you as a member of their flock.
thank-you for your replies! i will play music till quarantine is over
I'm not sure if i can post another question in this thread, but I'm having trouble connecting with Noodle. every time she is around me, she just fluffs up and starts grinding and clicking her beak while closing her eyes, does this mean she is relaxed? She doesn't seem to want to pay any attention to me or my voice, which is a little disheartening but I am persevering with it!
