Default Budgie in a Bowl!

So Niko really likes being inside of his food bowl. He will eat normally but he likes sitting on top of his food for whatever reason. Does anyone else's budgie do this? I think it's hilarious

My Toki does the same thing after painstakingly removing all the food with her little feet.

Sadie used to like throwing the food out of her bowl when she was still very young.

I believe it's a young budgie behaviour.

If he doesn't grow out of it, you might want to consider a different type of bowl.

Isn't it? It's so cute, I just hope he doesn't do it forever, it results in a lot of food on the floor

You are right, I will definitely get a new one if he doesn't stop doing it. He doesn't throw any food out though, at least not on purpose. He just likes sitting in there to eat

He just sits on top of everything and eats while he's in there. Such silly birds

Many very young budgies love to sit inside their food dishes. Most outgrow it as they get older.

The pictures of Niko in his dish are precious!

If you ration the food each day, there is much less waste.

Niko should be getting 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of seed per day.

Pellets should be available 24/7 in a separate dish.

He gets 1 1/2 teaspoons of seed daily and I'm working on converting him to pellets
He just decided to spill ALL of it one day

Well, a loss of 1 1/2 teaspoons of seed isn't much at all.
