Default Budgie screaming?

I've noticed every morning misha has started to scream more than chirp and starts to fly around and make as much sound as possible. He also jumps on the side of the cage closest to me which he only does when he wants my attention. I'm not sure what to do about it. I think he wants me to entertain him and give him treats. He hasn't really played with his toys yet so I'm sure he gets bored.

Sounds like Misha is training you well.

I agree that it sounds like Misha wants your attention and knows that loud calls will get it. You have to be careful that you don't end up reacting to these calls. If you can, try and establish a routine that he can rely on and that will help him. You can also look into positive reinforcement.
Also, with regards to toys, sometimes if a budgie has never had a toy, they don't always know what to do with it. It might be an idea to play with his toys when he is interested in you so he can see what to do with it.

Therm has given you excellent advice.

It's important to have a set routine for Misha.
A time that he is in his cage and entertains himself and a specific period of time where you either sit and interact with him or play with him.

Teaching Misha to understand how to play with his toys can take place during the times you interact with him.

Thank you very much. I'll definitely try to schedule specific times to play with him.
