Default What is this behavior?

So Niko started doing this weird thing today. Is he just adjusting his crop? He did it several times.

Thanks! I figured that's what it was, I just had never seen him do it before more than once!
He really does like fluffing himself up, it's super easy to tell if he's uncomfortable with something, he shrinks about 2 sizes!
It's not cold in here, so it's not that. He just likes being a fluffy budgie!

It's so strange looking! I've seen him do it once or twice before but he did it at least a dozen times. Thanks!

When crop adjusting is done repeatedly over and over again for several hours, you need to take your budgie to the Avian Vet for a check-up.

While occasional crop adjustments are normal, continual crop adjustments indicate there is an illness that needs to be diagnosed and treated.

Avian Vets have special training to determine the cause of symptoms resulting from illness or trauma.
This is important as "regular" vets will often overlook symptoms that are quickly obvious to an Avian Vet.
When you rely on anyone who has not had training in Avian diagnosis and care, you may be delaying effective treatment.

Thank you for telling me that! No worries, however, he hasn't done it since then, and he only did it for about a minute or so.

You're welcome.

I'm glad to hear the crop adjustments have not been a consistent issue.

Best wishes!
