Hi, my hen Suki has started to fly downwards instead of upwards. This used to happen after a bath when she was wet but it is so much more frequent now. She is eating , drinking, pooping, breathing, singing and playing fine, she does not seem sick but she just can't fly very well. She has crash landed on the carpet a few times now and I have to help her back into her cage. What would cause this? It is almost like a budgie who has had its wings clipped. There has been no recent molt, although I found 2 long feathers of hers at the bottom of the cage a few weeks ago. She has never been a good flier but now she is worse. I am baffled.any ideas

Does she look overweight.I'm thinking maybe she is more curvy than she should be.

She doesn't look over weight. The first picture she seems to be in a strange position, but the second one she looks fine. But it's hard to tell and getting her weighed might be more helpful than relying on sight alone.
And please remember to edit your post rather than double posting.

How old is Suki ? Maybe she has arthritis, although commonly seen in the feet and legs it can effect any joint and if it effects the wings it may make the bird less able to fly. The vet can x-ray her and may be able to see if she has any arthritic joints.

She could be any age as I bought her off a lady who didn't want her anymore. I suppose as long as she seems healthy in every other way I won't get too concerned, if there are any other changes I will take her to the vet, although I'm really not Happy with my avian vet after Norman, there are so many things when I look back he could of done differently . My biggest concern was the baytril he gave me for him, he diagnosed liver disease yet gave me baytril and told me 0.4 mls which was the amount you give a much bigger bird. It was only when I mentioned it on here that I was told that was too much, anyway that is for another post.
