My curtains are being destroyed by my bird. I have tried spraying them with peppermint oil and lavender oil. Neither have deterred her. I hate to keep her caged up. Does anyone have any ideas? Has this happened to you?
It will take time and positive reinforcement training to teach your bird that the curtains are "off-limits". Every time the budgie lands on the curtains, you will need to redirect it to a different area (e.g. boing, perch, playground) with a shredding toy.

Setting up a playground like FaeryBee said would be a good idea. You can set it up on top of her cage and add some shredding toys and things, so it gives her somewhere else to play, that will hopefully be more appealing that your curtains.
