I have two new budgies around 3 months old, I have them finger trained in the cage and they come out on my hand if I give them a millet treat but they don't like to be out of their cage without a treat. How can I encourage them to come out without the treat.
Hi, and welcome to talkbudies! You can set up a perching convenient to hopping out the door and put some temping toys, treats outside. It's usually best to just leave the door open when you can and wait for them to come out on their own.
Your little boy and girl are beautiful It sounds like they're doing well! Leah is absolutely right, it's important to give them the chance to come out on their own. Forcing them come out when they don't want to will only make them more nervous to venture out of the cage. Allowing them to choose when they'd like to come out is the best way to do it!
Thanks for all the advice, have taken it all on board and they have started to venture out on there own for a few minutes at a time standing on a platform I made to fit outside the door. There names are Bleu and Opel.
