First post here on the forum. I mainly made an account to ask a couple of questions regarding my new Budgie: Pixel. She's a second hand budgie, coming from a family with children. Their children didn't play nicely with the budgie, and thus she was forced to spend a lot of time in her cage.
We've had her for about a month now and she seems to be accustomed to us and her new environment. We try to let her out all the time, with the exceptions of us being away, if we're cooking or if we're sleeping. Since my girlfriend is home a lot Pixel is usually able to play outside most of the time in the day.
We've been able to discourage her biting behavior mostly by ignoring her attempts to hurt us.
Now that the introduction is kinda over; She has an obsession to certain objects/places and I can't find a way to discourage her going there.
The first spot is on top of the highest closet we have. I recognize this is desirable spot for her. This morning I've put a box on top of there and that seems to help her not find a landing spot.
The other spots are all screens. She's obsessed with screens, of all sizes (ironically). We have 2 computers in the room because we both work on it (and like to game on them
). We also have a television which she likes to sit on top of...or sit in front of the bottom. And when you grab your smartphone she wants to sit on the smartphone.
How do I discourage this behavior? We don't want her messing on our screens, or destroying them by biting in it. We try to give her lots of attention, love and of course fun toys to play with. But the screens are way more interesting. Even when their turned off... I can't even find an answer on google!
