Default One Budgie Regurgitating and Feeding Another

I just bought my first two budgies about 5/6 weeks ago from Petco. One is a very young male, still has his bars, dark black eyes and his cere hasn't turned blue yet. And the other is also male but older. I would say older than 6 months.

The older one has been regurgitating his food and feeding it to the younger one. Is that normal? Or is the younger one sick?

I've been reading a ton on this site but haven't seen anything like that addressed yet.

It is normal for budgies of either gender to occasionally feed each other and is part of the normal bonding process between them. My two males often feed each other.
That being said, take care to note that you do see the younger bird eating for itself!
If it isnít, and is constantly begging to be fed, then this is a sign of regression, which occasionally occurs when very young birds are taken from their parents too early. If this is the case, then the older bird could potentially become under nourished and you may need to step in with hand feeding until fully weaned.

Julie has given you excellent advice.
It is important that you keep a close eye on both budgies to ensure they are not losing weight.

I also recommend you have each of them examined by an Avian Vet for a "well-birdie" checkup.

This allows you to develop a good relationship with the vet and the vet can establish a baseline for your bird in case of any future illnesses or injuries.
