Kowhai is 5 months old now (Hatched Dec. 3, 2017) and I think he's going very hormonal! He no longer likes head scratches - though he will let me do a little scratch for a few seconds maybe once a day. I don't know if it's because he's growing up and no longer will want the cuddles (wah!) or if it is because his poor little head has so many pinnies coming in due to his big first molt. I feel selfish to say I'm mourning for my cuddly little boy who used to keep me from doing my work because he wanted skritches. Here is a video of his cuddly stage:
He also looks to be trying to mate as he's been trying get it on with our PlayStation 4 controller and occasionally my hand.
Also when he's in his cage he only goes to one perch and ignores the rest of his cage. He just goes to the corner closest to where the family is and waits to come out again. I don't know if him ignoring his other cage toys is part of his 'preenage' months. He's not aggressive, but just wants to be out of the cage and on my hand or near me. He never is keen to explore.
Is he going through a normal preenager behavioral changes?
