Awhile ago I lost an angel and my other budgie has been very quiet ever since she left. He's usually always chattering so seeing him quiet worried me. After thinking about it we finally decided to get another budgie to keep him company.
I got this budgie about two days ago and he seems like he's still a baby? He was the loudest and most active bird at the store so I decided to get him. However for the past two days he hasn't really said made a sound and all he's doing is sleeping. His droppings were watery but they seem normal now.
So budgie experts, could you tell me what to expect from a new baby budgie? I understand he might be stressed about his new home but how can I make him feel comfortable?
I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your other budgie
You're right that this little one is still very young. However, he will begin to settle in soon. Playing soft music in the background, covering his cage on three sides, and sitting by his cage to softly talk to him will make him feel more at home. After two weeks, he should be more settled in. During the two-week period, don't try to touch or tame him
Best of luck with your new baby!

Okay I'll do all that. He doesn't eat much and when he does it's only like four seeds. He drinks alot of water though.. Is there anything I can do? What kind of food can I feed him?
You should give him a quality seed mix and pellets as well. Budgies may not eat much for several days after just coming home. As he starts to settle in, he'll begin to explore his cage and eat more as well.
Keep an eye on him, after a few days he should be eating more consistently.

Alright! This is quite urgent, he was moving around and exploring on the first day but now he falls asleep every two seconds and he's all puffed up. Is he dizzy or weak because he isn't eating? Do I need to take him to a vet?
I'm so worried about him!! The only vet I know is a few hours away and I can only make an appointment on Monday. I hope I can keep help him feel comfortable till then
Do you know his exact age? He may not have been fully weaned, and regressed due to the stress of the move. Millet is an easy to crack seed that baby birds are often weaned onto, so in addition to the electrolyte intake from the advice above, he may be encouraged to eat millet over normal seed.
Give it a try and good luck.
It sounds to me as though the baby was too young to be sold and has regressed.
If it won't eat millet then you are going to need to purchase hand feeding formula and try to ensure it is eating and drinking.
Have you contacted the breeder or the store from whom you bought the budgie for assistance?
Thank you all for your advice, I was waiting to go home after class and help my baby out. However, I just came home from college and received the news that my baby budgie has passed because he was too weak.. I only got him two days ago and he left us about seven hours ago. My family didn't tell me till I reached home because they knew I wouldn't be able to focus in class after hearing about this. Basically while I was here asking for help and advice he was no more. It's a lot to take in especially the fact that it happened so suddenly and unexpectedly. Therefore, I will be spending some time away from here but I will be back soon.
