Saraabear is on a distinguished road
Default Hey!

So my girl is now about 10 months old, she absolutley loves being out of her cage even if its just on top, She's out roughly 5 hours a day free to roam but now when I put her back in she hangs from the top of her cage by her beak. Not noisey or anything, just wondering if anyone has some insight as to why?

Hi there! It sounds to me like she doesn't want to be put back into her cage and is trying to get out again. Does she have toys in her cage to play with?

It’s hard to tell by the pic, and we can only speculate, but as Kellie said maybe she’s trying to get out again.

It’s really not a good idea to let your budgie roam free around the house for 5 hours unattended. There are so many things around the home that can be a hazard to your budgie.

I agree with the above. She needs to be more disciplined with getting out of her cage; five hours every day with no supervision is not good. There are many dangers she can get into while not supervised.

Oh she's 100% supervised ! I'm a stay at home mom, and the house is prettymuch as much bird proof as it is baby proof and I keep a close eye on her.

She's got toys and she'll play with them, when she wants out she rattles the door and squaks, basically she just stays in (any) corner of her cage and hangs from her beak - its like shes pushing on the roof with her little head.

In that case, you should limit the time she's out She needs to see her cage as her home, and it's important (for her safety in the long run) that she doesn't see your whole house as her home or she will not enjoy spending time in her cage. Limiting her out of cage time to perhaps three hours and then putting her back in her cage, perhaps with a treat, will help her get used to spending more time with her cage. How big is her cage? For one budgie, it should be at least 18 x 18 x 18 inches
