Question Biting or Grooming?

Hi i'm new here and i've never owned 2 budgies before and I was wondering if this behavior is normal for the two. I just got the white budgie (Sky) and I've had my buddy beaker for a few months now. If it matters Beaker is a male and i'm not yet sure of sky's gender. It doesn't seem like Beaker is protective of his food/water. Video1 Video2

Hi there, welcome!

They’re preening each other (grooming). Your budgies are absolutely adorable together. But I have to point out that you needed to QUARANTINE your new bird! Here is a link explaining it. https://www.talkbudgies.com/your-bud...important.html Birds tend to hide their illnesses and many times “look” fine, so to be sure they aren’t potentially spreading disease or illness to your existing bird, they should be quarantined in a separate room with strict protocol for a bare minimum of 30 days.

We ask that new members become familiar with the forum by reading over the links in the List of Stickies https://www.talkbudgies.com/general-...-stickies.html There you’ll find answers to many of the most common questions. To share photos, we find that a photo sharing service (such as Imgur), works best with the forum.

If you take close, clear pics in natural light (by a window), we will be able to accurately tell you what genders your budgies are.

They should have a variety of budgie toys, and will also benefit from natural branch perches.

Hi there and to the new forums.

Did you quarantine your new bird for 40 days before introducing them? It's important to do so as budgies can hide diseases they pick up at the pet store/breeder, and then you'd have to take two budgies to the vet instead of one.

Also, you should remove all the dowel wood perches and replace them with natural wood perches as it's better for their feet. Keeping the dowels in there will lead to bumble foot and unhealthy feet.

They are very cute together, Julie has given great advice. They are preening each other, which is a good sign.

Please be sure to read through all the forum's budgie articles and "stickies" to ensure you're up to date on everything relating to budgie care. Especially check out the links below:

Best wishes with your little ones!
