Default Frustrated budgie?

So after moving Chatterbox to his new cage, fighting has stopped in the main cage, and I have left his new cage about 2 inches from the old one. I notice he hangs around as close as he can get to the old cage, chewing at the bars. He has a big chew toy in the cage, I gave him his own millet spray, and he keeps going for the bars, like he's trying to chew his way out of his cage. Will he keep doing this? Should I move the cage away from the old cage? He was starting to bond with one of the budgies before I moved him out, but that budgie was also bonding with the only adult in the cage, who was nipping him. He'll be getting a cuttlefish bone on Friday. The chew toy is wood and harmless butcher paper. He will get a bigger cage if he grows, but for now this cage is fine. I've been talking to him and sometimes putting my hand in the cage (He's not afraid of it and he wasn't even hand raised! <3) and definately want to hand train him, but he's distracted by the other budgies. They aren't trying to get back to him. If I turn the cage he always goes for the spot closest to the old cage. He is eating.

It will take time to adjust to being separated from his flock mates.
If you do want to try and hand tame him and have the time to spend with him; then if another room is available for the cages to be separated, give it a go.
Music from the radio or TV noise can help muffle the contact calling between rooms.
Just make sure to progress through the taming steps at the rate dictated by Chatterbox.
Good luck

Thanks. Good to know he'll settle down. This small cage is easy for me to move, but not too small he can't flap around and climb on his toys and stuff. XD He sat on my arm when I was putting toys and stuff in his new cage even though I'd just moved him, and when I was holding him he only bit me once.

Jesse,
Chatterbox needs a cage that is a minimum of 18"x18"x18" and bigger is preferable, no matter how big Chatterbox is at this time. I always suggest a minimum of 30"x18"x18" for a single budgie.

I recommend you move Chatterbox's cage into a different room for now. Having that cage right next to the cage the others are in is definitely going to frustrate him. Julia's suggestion of playing the radio and/or TV for him is spot-on.

If he spends more time outside the cage than in, as in, most of the day nearly every day, will that make a smaller cage acceptable in the short run? I can't get a bigger one for a while, and plan on keeping this purple one as a hospital cage. It's only 10 by 13 by 14... I need a month of two to get one the right size.

The fact that he isn't spending much time in it is good but you definitely need to get a bigger cage soon.
The size you indicated is really best for use as a travel cage to and from the vet.

I got a 'carry cage' a while back and it's much smaller, preventing injured birds from flapping around... My mum reckons I should keep this as a hospital cage. I moved his cage about 3 feet away from the old one and he instantly calmed down a lot. Took me rearranging my desk but so worth it. XD I'm going to make sure he gets a proper cage.

Jessie,
Yes, I agree with your Mum that the cage you now have Chatterbox in is a good size to use as a "hospital cage".
Please do try to get him a properly sized cage as soon as you possibly can.
Best wishes!
