It might just be more trouble than the effort is worth. Why would you want to do this when your friend can get a budgie in Australia?

Each country has their own import/export laws. I’m not sure about birds, but it was quite a bit to go through on both ends to get my dog here from a breeder in a different country. And it’s not cheap!

It is difficult to fly many things out of a country. I do not even think it would even be safe for the bird even if you were allowed to fly him to another country.

Each country has its own rules and regulations with regard to both importing and exporting animals.
You need to check each countries rules (India and Australia) to ensure the entry of the budgie into the country would even be allowed. Additionally, each airline has specific rules with regard to allowing animals to travel on their flights.
You will need to do all of this research prior to making any plans.

Honestly, in this case I would consider a professional pet moving company to help you. Look for one based in Australia, as they would be best versed in Australian laws in regards to importing animals. Good luck!

This is easy enough to look up.

https://www.agriculture.gov.au/impor...s/live-animals says "Birds Selected species from New Zealand only". So unless you are flying in from New Zealand, you are out of luck.

Nor can you first import your bird to New Zealand to get around the restriction. New Zealand does not allow importing budgies, period. See https://www.customs.govt.nz/business...mport-animals/

Sorry.
