Female Aggressive Toward Male
I have a problem! I have a male and female budgie and the female is aggressive to the male. She bites him and yells at him. She will kick him out of perches and food. I added another food bowl for that purpose but not much has changed. I read that it was good to separate them for a while so I put them in different cages for a week but now that I put them back together not much has changed. Does anyone have any advice? I feel bad separating them since the female budgie gets frustrated/stressed and always tries to get back to him. When I let them out at separate times Conchita (female) would always perch on Percy's (male) cage and vice versa.
Separating them for a week isn't long enough.
If the female is that aggressive toward the male then they need to be separated permanently.
You need to separate them into individual cages and move one of the cages into a different room.
Play music in the rooms so they don't hear one another as much and spend time with each of them individually.
Not all budgies get along and the owner must be prepared to take the necessary steps to ensure the budgie being dominated is not hurt either physically or emotionally which can easily happen if the abuse continues.
