Exclamation Will new cage upset Budgie?

Vincey's cage is getting old and a bit broken so I want to replace it.

I would like to get her a slightly bigger cage and have found one that is a bit wider and taller. I will obviously keep her toys/perches the same whilst she is getting used to things, later adding some more perches, as she loves chewing them!

I just wondered if this is likely to upset her or unsettle her massively at all?

Would hate for her to feel unsafe or get unwell because of it. Anyone with any experience of upgrading Budgie's cages would be great. She can be a little territorial of her cage (but does spend a lot of time out of it too!)

Thanks!

The change may be a bit unsettling for her but nothing terrible, a bigger cage is a good thing and she will get used to it soon. It would be best if you place the new cage in the same area as her current cage and let her get used to the sight of it and she may even choose to explore it when she is out. This way when you decide the time is right to remove the old cage she will already be familiar with the new.

I wouldn’t worry about her feeling a little displaced for a short time. Budgies are extremely resilient. Getting a new, larger cage is a ‘good’ thing!

Vincey will very much appreciate having a larger cage and will adapt to it very quickly.
The bigger the cage the better - no matter how much out of cage time a budgie gets!
Just make sure the spacing between the bars is no more than 1/2".
We'd love to see Vincey's new "house" once you get it and she is all settled in.
