Hello! Long time no speak. My female budgie had babies about 5 months ago, and now that they're almost 6 months I'm ready to rehome some birds. I only need to rehome 1 or 2, as I have the room, but I've been seeing some fighting going on.
My female had 2 girls and 1 boy. The father and son, Peekaboo and Rian, seem to fight a lot. like, flying into each other and onto the floor of the cage fighting. My other males do not have this issue and get along quite well. I am debating rehoming Rian, though it seems like Peekaboo is always starting the fights. I'm not sure if I should rehome Peekaboo and Jingles (mom) or if i should just rehome Rian and see how things go from there. There are no other fighting issues going on in the cage besides this, but I worry that peekaboo may continue this behavior with the other birds as well. As Covid19 is still rampant, I have time to think about my options. Currently, the girls and boys are separate, and that seems to have calmed the fighting a bit, but not all the way.
Thanks for the advice!! That's what I was thinking. I have a second cage that fits 3 that I could put mom and dad in, they get along SUPER well, so I could easily put them together if there are still problems. It makes it easier to let go when you know others agree with what you're doing, so thank you so much. The humane society I'm going to be taking him to has a male Rian can live with when he's out of quarantine!
