Default Budgie not coming out of cage?

I got my budgie around a month ago and she doesn't wanna come out of cage. She has come out on some occasions, she just walks around and flies a bit(her wings are clipped, or were clipped when I got her) and goes back.

When I get her on my finger and slowly move it towards exit she quickly hops off when she knows I'm trying to take her out. I've stopped doing that.

But I wanna know why she doesn't wanna come out?

What is your budgie's name?

She doesn't want to come out of the cage because it is her "safe" place and she feels most comfortable there.

You shouldn't try to force her to come out of her cage.

While her wings are clipped, it is going to be very difficult for her to get around and she may fall on the floor if she does try to fly. Make sure you have the area on the floor around the cage well padded with towels.

You can leave the cage open (only when you are there to supervise) and give her the choice of whether or not she wishes to venture out.
Hanging some perches on the outside of the cage, putting a playground on the top of the cage (or nearby with a ladder so she can easily get to it) may encourage her to explore a bit.

If she doesn't want to come out, you need to respect her choice and simply enjoy being near her while she is in her safe place.

Hi I'm really sorry for replying late. I totally forgot I posted about it here.

Her name is Xejé, that's a kurdish name. She still seems to be cage bound. She has scissor beaks and I have to take her to vet every 3 weeks or so for trimming, don't know if that's in anyway a difference.

I haven't found a playground here where I live and I don't have a credit card for ordering online. I made her a natural perche for her cage so maybe I'll make her other ones for outside.

I just want her to be energetic and move around (she can fly about 1 meter high) and play. Not sit on her perch all day and just sing from time to time when I put music.

And don't worry the floor has carpets so she won't hurt herself.

Thanks for answering

Xejé is a very pretty little girl!

Thank you for taking her in and giving her such good care by ensuring her beak is properly trimmed as necessary so she can be well and healthy.

Please make sure her cage is very secure and is not left outside unsupervised as we don't want any predators to come after her.

Her wings will eventually grow back!!

I let my birdies free-fly a lot. Some like to stay in the cage still. They can choose lol

She's very pretty!

By free-fly, you mean indoors, right?

Awww, she is so pretty!

If you have access to bird friendly trees/branches, you can make your own playground/ gym yourself, if you are able to.

The only thing I'd urge is no ropes, but especially the coloured twisted ones. Parrots, which includes budgies, chew everything as you probably know and they can have rope fibers sit in their crop and they do not digest them. They can and do end up with something called cropoliths, which by the time you know your bird has one, its too late. Cropoliths block their digestive tract and they starve to death. For budgies, fatal starvation only takes about 48 hours.

I know I've mentioned a couple of worrying things - but if you are aware of them, you can avoid it.... then its NO problem
