Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

What are you planning on feeding the baby chicks?

Do you have any sterile pipettes or syringes?

Wow! What a day! lol!
OK so "One" as the kids have christened it, is eating really well, every hour, and is full of beans! She's almost standing up, but is mega wobbly, and looks like a tiny oven ready chicken!

We went across the island to our friendly pet store guy, who after hearing our story pulled out a brand new tub of "Exact" hand feeding formula, which i paid about 10 for, and some crop needles! Who would have thought it! My Thai is pretty bad but we had a kinda chat about it, although Youtube and you guys here have been more helpful!

So far we have been feeding her off a little plastic spoon with just a drop or two of formula on it, which she wolfs down like it's her last meal!

My wife made a little "nest" out of one the kids old fleece tops (not like they get much use here!) and we transferred our little clutch to its new home this afternoon.

There was also a definite tapping coming from one of the other eggs a minute ago too...

What do you guys use to host images on this forum? Sorry, but it's been a while since i used a forum! Then i can upload some pics

Oh how exciting I'm really holding my breath and praying that this will be a huge success story.
Photos can be published through photobucket.

Best of luck with this little clutch I look forward to the updates

Oh my goodness reading this has made me so nervous for the little guys because I know how hard it can be to rear lil' chicks but also excited that they have found someone who is happy to give them the best start to life. I really hope they do well, I'm keeping everything crossed

Wow!

I'm so glad you were able to get the formula and crop needles (in case they are needed). How great that "One" is eating from the spoon.

This is VERY exciting.

If you have or open a Free PhotoBucket Account, you can easily upload photos using the instructions in this link:
https://talkbudgies.com/how-guides/17...otobucket.html

We're all rooting for all five of the little ones to make it and know you are doing your absolute best for them.

Wow, that's amazing! I hope everything goes well. Please keep us updated.
And you can use Photobucket to upload pictures (everyone else is saying this also lol )

I hope they all survive and I know you would be able to provide a great horn for them

Day two, and egg two hatched this morning! Bigger than the first chick, but also the egg was slightly bigger so no surprise! It's had a couple of drops of water and a full crop of formula so far! Number one is doing well too.

Feeding time! Wednesday has developed quite an appetite, Thursday is working on holding its head up, but is eating well so far!

I honestly never saw myself as the type of person who hand rears budgies! lol! But i am finding it strangely satisfying, and something i would like to keep doing - my daughter is totally smitten with our two, and i really hope they make it! There are still three eggs to hatch, but they seem much less advanced - so maybe they are not viable? I guess we wait and see. I wasn't convinced that any of them would hatch at all, so we are doing well with two i think.

I've taken a bunch of videos on my iphone - i'll put them on my youtube channel later and post a link.
