Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

Default Is this is egg dead?

This egg was layed July 1st.
We thought it was fertile but when we candled it again this morning, it looked weird.

Can somebody help me with what is going on inside the egg?

Oh and the places where there are white dots are cracks. Without the lighting from behind they look like gray dots that randomly appeared.

Well it defiantly WAS fertile, however that does not look good. I would say that baby has died in the shell.. I wonder if the cracks are from sharp toenails from mom and dad? That could cause dis eggs.
Do not remove it until someone experienced advises tho as I could be wrong.

I'm seeing the typical DIS blood ring from those photos. After some time, the blood ring can even be visible in the shell without candling it. I'm sorry...

those weren't cracks (the dots) those just randomly appeared as grey dots on top but it looks like cracks when I candle it. The gray lines you see is the egg number that we marked. Anyways, thank you

Yes, it really is best to discard the DIS egg.
Best of luck with the two eggs and the ones that will follow them.
