Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

Default 10 week old budgie..should I move her?

Our parakeets had a budgie and the budgie is now 10 weeks old. Should we move her to a separate cage? I'm worried that she might be lonely by herself in the cage.
Thoughts on move her away from her parents to her own cage?

How are the three of them getting along?
Has there been any aggression of the Mom toward her female chick?

Please make sure you are discouraging breeding.

There has been no aggression. The mom and dad both show affection toward he baby and sometimes the dad will feed her a little bit. She eats and drinks on her own.

 so should I move her? We're expecting 2 more babies (in the eggs) and were wondering if she will be lonely on her own. Any help is appreciated!

The situation is , you have a pair of budgies that have a ten week old chick they are still feeding and being loving towards. However I take it the nest box was left in the cage and they have laid more eggs which are due to hatch soon?
You are lucky the parents haven't turned on the chick with new babies due soon. Please be very wary as they could become hostile towards the chick. I think if at all possible you need to get another cage for the young hen and place her in it, keep it near by so she doesn't stress or start working on taming her and her bond towards you will strengthen. I also suggest once this clutch of chicks are fledged take the nest box out and let the hen recuperate from breeding back to back clutches. She needs to regain her strength and have lots of healthy nourishing foods.

We didn't have a nestbox and we didn't think they'd breed. But then they had one clutch (with one fertile egg being the 10 week old baby.) after this clutch we didn't expect them to have a clutch again after about 3 months. But then we had eggs laid, so we bought her a little nest thing to put her eggs in which she liked. We have set up a cage for her just in case. I think we will move her there tomorrow or after tomorrow.

Thank you for the help

After she has raised these next lot take everything out of the cage and change it round, she needs to recover from laying eggs and raising babies, ar you going to keep the babies? I wouldn't be able to part with them. would love to see some pictures. Make sure she has cuttle bone.

Ok thanks
We are most likely going to keep the babies or give one of them to a family member
I will post pictures as soon as I can
