Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

Default Budgie unable to mate with his partner

Heya everyone!
It might sound amazing to you all but actually it is not.. The thing is that my mature budgies yellow female with chocolaty brown coloured cere at present is ready to breed at her fullest as she forms a posture repetedly making yellow-green series male split to blue hop on his back and fertilize the eggs but male(shaby) stands still on hers back and tries to mate but he doesn't know the correct technique for it i think so sensing it a delay in sex.. The female budgie throw him away from her's back and that mating process termimates at this very stage everytime...i did what all i can.. Even i made them watch **** sort of video for them showing mating process between two budgies but still nothing happened much yet...
Please if any one could tell how to help male(shaby) fertilize those eggs inside..

It is just a matter of him learning how and gaining experience, not really anything you can teach them. It is all trial and error for him till he learns. My cockatiel was like that at first. He would get on my hen then just turn in circles on her back trying to figure out what to do, then the hen would get frustrated and toss him off and squawk at him. That lasted for a few months until he learn how to curl his body around hers. They now are like little maniacs..lol they even had a clutch of chicks a few months ago.

OMG LOL

Be patient, he will find the way eventually. If you are lucky, and hen has enough patience, couple of last eggs will be fertile, if not...try one more clutch, he should be ready and have enough time to practice for sure. If second clutch is empty, meaning they are not good for each other, and pair needs to be separated.

Good luck!

If you can answer a few questions it would be a bit easier to help figure out what might be happening

How old is Shaby?
How long have you had him?
Is this his first time breeding?

I agree with what was mentioned above as well If he is a mature bird it is likely just figuring things out and needs a bit more time.

I had one male that was just sad to watch his first breeding year... He would try so hard to woo his mate, but that was about all he could figure out how to do It took him another breeding season before he finally figured things out, and after that he had an almost perfect fertility record!

Don't give up on little Shaby too soon

Thanks for answering my questions! It sounds like you have done everything you can and little Shaby just needs some time to figure things out.

I am looking forward to the pictures!
