What do i put inside my budgie's nesting box?

I don't know what I should put inside my budgie's nest box. I heard paper shavings is good but I am still not sure whether is good or not.

Ivan,

The purpose of Talk Budgies is to promote the best practices with regard to caring for budgies for their optimum health and well-being.

You have neither the knowledge nor the experience to consider breeding your budgies at this time.

You only recently acquired them and don't even know how to determine gender.

Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility. This requires extensive research and an openness to continual learning.

Please read the two links below and demonstrate the responsibility and maturity of a good owner.

You need to learn everything you can about your budgies, their temperaments and how to care for them before ever thinking about making the decision to accept the commitment to breed ethically and responsibly.

Hi Ivan!

FaeryBee has given you the best possible advice. It's important that you do not try to breed your budgies at this time. Contrary to what other resources may say, breeding budgies is not an easy task and requires several months of intensive research before you are ready to take on the responsibility. At the moment, it is essential to get to know your budgies and do all you can to discourage laying and breeding for the sake of everybudgie's health and well being ;)

Hi Ivan!

You can read through all of the Budgie Breeding stickies to start with, which can be found at the top of this page: Budgie Breeding - Talk Budgies Forums

Additionally, cutelittlebirdiesaviary.com is a great resource for looking at more breeding information

It's important you first learn all you can regarding budgies and the best practices for their care. This is going to take you a minimum of a year.

Additionally, you'll need to learn your budgies' temperaments, health, etc. to determine if they are even good candidates for breeding.

After doing that, then you should begin your research and study of best practices with regard to breeding and the information Star provided will be helpful at that time.
