Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

Default All 8 eggs infertile

Ok so I candled the eggs and all eight are infertile. Have placed back into the box. What would you advise I do. Poor Roxy will be devastated she has been such a good mum incubating her clutch.

There's little point returning the eggs if none are fertile.
Did you see the pair of them mate?
The best thing will be to remove the nest box let her recover from laying so many eggs and try again another time. Just make sure that the last egg she laid is more than five days old before discarding. If you didn't mark them you won't know what egg it is so ensuring it's had 5 days incubation would be good.

Yes I did see Disco attempt to mate with Roxy...Husband is bring home some material to shut off the box tonight. Her last egg was laid on the 8/August so has had time to show any fertilisation. Disappointed for them both. Thanks for your reply.
