Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

Hi,

You've indicated that you're a budgie newbie, so can I ask why you are planning on breeding already?

Also, do you know if you have an avian vet near to you?

If you have only just got these birds I would learn about their temperament before thinking of breeding them. That is a lot more important than the expectations of the mutations of the young.

I would expect all normals from those two, greens and possibly blues. They would all be split for fallow and recessive pied, males would be split for cinnamon also. Surprises are always a possibility but this pairing likely won't give any chicks like the parents.

Hopefully you plan on taking a period of time to research well before heading into breeding.

Before anyone answers questions regarding breeding, it is important we have more information from you so the best advice for your particular situation can be offered.

Have you owned budgies before or is this your first time?
Do you have any experience in breeding budgies?
How old are the budgies you currently have?
Do you know if they are related?
What conditioning diet have you been providing them?

An individual needs to have a good background in basic budgie care and then do extensive research into the proper breeding practices prior to making the decision to accept the responsibility of the commitment required for breeding responsibly and ethically.

Please read the information in this link: https://www.talkbudgies.com/budgie-br...l-members.html

After you provide the answers to the questions above, we can talk about budgie breeding.

Please be sure you review the information in this thread:
