Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

Default Do you know the gender of my parakeets?

I have two budgies the one with the white face has a white and blue cere and the one with then yellow face has a really light pink and bluish purple cere. But both Ceres look somewhat similar to each other. When I send people picture of them most people say they are both females, but if they are then why does the one with the yellow face have pink on his cere? Can you tell me what genders they are? Maybe itís hard to tell because they are changing color since they are going into adulthood?

Hereís a google drive link to the pictures of them

Yes, they are both females.

When females are not in breeding condition, they will have a light blue and white cere, then it will turn tan/brown when in breeding condition.

The slight pink is hardly noticeable, and is likely just normal for that particular hen.
Blissfuly Insane.
