Parents are Vader and Opal... This is their first clutch.

He's a Yellowface type I or II, She's a goldenface.

Gorgeous little ones for sure! I would guess Golden/yellow face II then, although lighter than usual because of the Yellowface. Assuming either both parents are opaline, Dad is visual and mom isn't, or mom is visual and Dad is split?

Not sure... Vader is a Recessive pied, he has some blue around his neck, but not like an opaline should. Momma is opaline, very green on her neck and top of her back. A lot of her blue has turned green from the goldenface.

Dad must be split then since the males would all be split for opaline and the females would be visual, but both chicks are opaline, so Dad might be split

To get opaline at all, dad has to be at least split for it. So, yeah he's split at least, if not an opaline that's covered up by the recessive pied markings. Not sure which, depends if they get a chick that isn't opaline or not.

I enjoyed following along with this. Not just for the cute little baby dino birdies either (though it is what got me started). I have had an interest in genetics for many years. It started in high school biology class and If I hadn't had already been nudged into being an Electronics and Ham Radio Gal (KG6GDQ) due to my father. I would have gone into a different area of science.

I haven't had enough experience with budgie genes x's and mutations but enjoy this immensely.
