Smile Happy Hut!

Basil finally got into her happy hut, after we took a nice shower, and she stayed in there for 4 hours. at first I had to kinda push her in there, but now she'll snuggle up in there a little at night and step in when I put her up to it, even if she gets out right away, at least she knows it won't hurt her, and that it's actually quite comfy.

I've only ever seen my conures use these things. I
never thought of offering something like this to a
budgie. I doubt mine would use them.

My Quaker sleeps in his every night, I have wondered if the budgies would use one. May just offer them one!

I strongly recommend removing it from your Budgies cage.

I have known birds die in those things. They chew the inside fabric which if ingested causes crop impaction, if not you then have tiny loose threads which they get caught up in, I have known birds chew their own legs off to get out of them and end up being strangled in them.

Also if you have a hen it will encourage breeding behaviours and is not a suitable place for her to nest at all.

I completely agree with Amelia.
I'd suggest you take the hut out of the cage right away.

She is quite fond of it, but she barely goes into it unless we've just finished a bath. I'm going to keep it, but only put it up before a bath, and take it out when she and my other budgie (a new one when the second cage comes. I can't wait!) are done drying off.

Ekko gets his put into his cage at bedtime and removed first thing every morning. He put a couple good sized holes in it the very first day I gave it to him...lesson learned quick...it comes out as soon as he wakes up! After 8+ years its getting pretty worn.

That sounds like a great plan!
