Default Is Barney a pied budgie

Hi im new to this forum as of today, so please bare with me haha!
I have 2 budgies Barney and Stella.
Barney is of course a typic male bobbing his head and doing his mating dance to Stella and what ever else he gets his claws on! I.e the mineral block :/
Anyway, the reason im posting is because Barneys cere is not blue like a normal male budgie. His cere is pink and has been pink since I got him. Every now and then it does get a purple trim around the outside but that then goes back to pink. He is a young adult not a baby anymore.
I have always thought his beak and cere is a lot more wider than Stellas.
I have been doing alot of research and i am now starting to think he is a pied budgie. However I do not know anything about pied budgies. Could some one please tell me if I am right? X

Indeed your Barney is a gorgeous pied budgie. If he has full black eyes without iris rings then he is a recessive pied and his cere will always stay pink/purplish.
By the way, welcome to the forums!

Thanks so much!
So what does recessive pied mean? Is this a problem? Or just a type of budgie? X

No problem with it at all, it's just another type of colour patterned budgie!

Thank you he's my little darling!
Stella on the other hand is very mischievous! I call her my little godzilla, as she likes to destroy everything!
But I wouldn't have her any other way
Would you say she is a recessive pied? She is all white and has one patch of greyish blue on her back with black patches. Here is a pic, but not sure the one of her back is very clear. X

Stella looks like a dominant pied to me, but you could poast a thread in the mutations and genteics forum if you want the experts to tell you for sure

On second thought she looks like she could be a Clearbody too, but I don't know much about them, I've never seen on in NZ.
