I have no real answers for you on this question. Hopefully
the list experts will weigh in shortly. What I do want to say
is this is a most excellent photo to help answer your question.
It is clear. It is in focus. It is natural lighting, not flash. It is
a lovely close-up of the cere. And that is a very pretty face
being forced to pose for the camera! Well done

He's quite a good budgie after the photoshoot he jumped out of my
hand then walked up my arm to go sit on my head his usual chilling spot.

Yeah that was my original thought till the pink started coming through, there wasn't one single bit of pink on the cere before. And if you notice the pink is taking over the blue on the bottom on the cere.

I would also say male, and i think personally at 6-8 months old he is still maturing.

Freki's cere looked like this and kept going back and fourth but i think daylight has
something to do with it. Since its sunny one day and snowing the next so its still messing
around with their body clocks.

I thought Freki was a female the other day with his odd behaviour and change in cere
colour but today its all blue and not pink/purple or has white rings at all.

I hope this post helped a little.

Yeah I personally think its a male but the cere doesn't change often up untill a few weeks ago. I read somewhere that the outside weather doesnt effect the budgies as they are in door with same light hours and temp anyway?

Yeah i know, but maybe every house has their own temp, some have central heating, some have storage heaters, some have none.

Some prefer their house cool where some prefer theirs warm etc etc etc

I mean, personally i could be covered in petrol and set alight, and i would still need a jacket
