Default Stubby Tail

Julio doesn't have any pinnies on his head, for once, but I noticed last night that he had a stubby little puddle duck tail So I went searching for his tail feather that I knew he must have molted out and I found it in the bottom of his cage. I also found a flight feather on the floor!

I expected to see a much shorter tail than what you described, Jill!
Julio is just as handsome as ever.

He's still handsome! Casper's tail is really long, too, so losing a tailfeather is a big deal!

n'awwww! Still not as short as my Kiwi's tail. God knows what her previous owners did to the poor girl. Considering she is terrified of humans, nothing nice.

Julio is soooo cute, always I love collecting the feathers too. I have stashes of them all over the house I have forgotten about. I will be sorting a drawer or something out and will come across half a budgie

I could probably build another budgie with all the feathers Freki has dropped over the last two weeks or so, both his primary tail feathers have grown back (well one fully, the one underneath is about half way back)

and he's got lots of new shorter tail feathers just come in too, he dropped three primary flight feathers, so i am hoping the rest will follow soon and then he will have his full flights back. i am so happy for him!

I agree, he's still cute even with the duck bum. Budgies are the worst molters! My 2 budgies molted more feathers in one season than all my other species of birds in 2 years
