Default Mr Penguin, Pinko's trainer...

Pinko is adorably cheeky. But I'm starting to pull my hair out at times..
He just refuses to go into his cage willingly. He will make me chase him for what seems *forever*. Sigh.

Yesterday I was tired, had a headache and was very near gently grabbing him to put him away. I don't think it would break our bond but its never a good idea is it...
So I turned to his beloved penguin for help...

I picked the penguin up, telling him what a good boy he was for going in the cage. I placed him on the lowest perch near one of the doors. And what do you know! Pinko was watching as soon as I started talking to Mr Penguin and followed him inside ... it was so easy!
I did it again before bed and again it seems Pinko doesn't want to be left out

I hope one day I can train him to go inside the cage without Mr Penguin though.... I need to buy more millet, that's for sure...

Whatever you can do...

I can do better !
(daytime seed, before bedtime I replace it with pellets... )

Aww, Pinko wants to be out for longer, at least Mr. Penguin is able to convince him to go back to the cage!

It's really cute he follows his little friend around I'm sure having a treat for going back in the cage should help. A little incentive never hurts.

Aww that's adorable! If it's night time, i always find you
can put them back in the cage easily if you turn the light
off! Mine used to be shocking, so i'd turn the main light
off and just leave the tv on. Got 'em in every time!
Thank goodness they are ALL really good now. They have
their routine down to a fine art, with the two littlies - Benny
and Bailey actually flying to my shoulder when i walk over
to them!

I give him as much time out as I can (I work from home so that's most of the day) but there are times he has to go back for his own safety. At least he is fine now once he is in, he used to flutter around protesting... so I guess we're making some progress...

I've run out of millet... Must pick up some today. I was using basil - he LOVES it - but he soon realised he was being tricked I wonder if it'll be the same with millet..

Last night he was snoozing on his playgym when it was time for bed so I turned off all the lights (faint light from another room) and he sleepily went in his cage, no problem
I hope that one day he will go in easily like your guys! That's so sweet that Benny and Bailey fly over to your shoulder!!
I have a friend here whose birds go back when she says 'cage!'. *dream*
