Default My little flock today

I haven't posted any pics for a while of my flock: Cato and Austin, their four chicks (now all around 9 weeks old) and Duke. (I did a breeding journal - here's the link if you're interested: https://talkbudgies.com/showthread.php?t=148178)

Austin's in solitary confinement (after attacking her eldest chick), and to make matters worse, she's moulting. Poor girl! But she enjoys being let out of her cage and watching what's going on outside.

Note the beauty spot below her beak. Her cere doesn't know whether it's coming or going either.

Here's Cato in an unusually docile state. He'd obviously worn himself out warbling at everything. When he's all fluffed up, it does make me wonder if there's a bit of English in him...

Here's Duke. He's in a separate cage to all the others. When I bought him, his tail was short and all nibbled; since he's had his own space, it's grown back. He's such a happy bird, head-bobbing at his toys, his mirror and at thin air.

Nap time?

Nap time.

A rare photo of Cato with all four of his babies (L-R: Cato, Iggy, Harley, George, Frankie). The babies will all be rehomed within the next couple of weeks...

Frankie.

Frankie and George: inseparable brothers. They're being rehomed together (as are Harley and Iggy).

Iggy, George and Harley. Harley's the biggest chatterbox of all the clutch!

Iggy being a bat. She's the youngest and the only female in the clutch (I think). She's well and truly Miss Independent already!

I gave the birds a special treat today: an ear of corn. They'd never had it before and I didn't know if they'd like it or not. It took them a few hours to find it; but once they did, that was it. They enjoyed playing with the leaves more than eating the corn!

A quick scratch...

Frankie doing the splits.

How great to see some pics of your whole flock! That pic of Cato napping with his foot tucked in is really precious. I'm glad the babies will have a sibling to play with when the time comes for them to move into their new homes.
Thanks for updating!

Gorgeous pics and a beautiful flock. Your babies are too adorable, I would have difficulty parting with them.

The ear of corn looks like it was a hit too. Don't worry that they don't eat much of the corn, it takes my 18 birds all day to get though an ear of corn. So I would only give them 1/3 or half an ear. Open it up like you have and just cut the bottom half off. You can then have that bit for your lunch while the birds enjoy the leaves and remainder for themselves.
