Dicky has some beautiful colours, congrats!
If I had him in my flock I would pair him up with a yellow based (green or lutino since you're going for albino budgie), but that's just me, that's how I like to pair my birds up. One yellow based with a blue based budgie.

I think he is opaline spangle and maybe greywing? Not sure why no grey or black barring at all. He is gorgeous! I would breed with another opaline spangle of either base color and see if the babies have the same unique colors. Some would be DF spangles of course and they are so gorgeous!

ohhh thx! yeah he IS is a "sky opaline spangle" THINK possible lacewing, or just a **** nice opaline marking lol, he threw a washed lutinoesque baby to a green and yellow (no baring) hen if that helps. i WAS thinking about putting him with a grey hen in winter, so thats food for thought for me :-) i HAD the perfect hen! but she was sold with a broken wing, she is SOOOOOOO blue! blue like the top of the facebook bar! but dad has her for now, he is going to see how he goes breeding with her, as her wing is the only issue, other then that, a perfectly beautiful giant happy brute! you've given me 2 options i already have :-) thankyou!

It's interesting, I have a couple of opaline spangles that have almost no wing markings like that. I've always wondered if some other mutation mixed in causes that or if it's just the luck of the draw! Either way it's super lovely. He can't be lacewing unless he has red eyes, which I can't see in the pic.

If you pair him with an albino, from what I know you wouldn't get albino chicks because ino is sex linked? You'd only get males that were split for ino

Not knowing what mutations the albino hen is masking makes things a bit more interesting, personally I like the idea of breeding inos just because of the mystery factor!

This is what the genetic calc. said

/ means split for

blue spangle (sf) opaline cock x blue ino hen

% all male chicks

50.0% blue /opaline ino
50.0% blue spangle(sf) /opaline ino

% all female chicks

50.0% blue opaline
50.0% blue opaline spangle(sf)
