Default Sherlock and Watson (males, hopefully?) ha

So, what is your conclusion? And can you give me a ballpark age?

Thanks so much! I look forward to learning and sharing here!

Aww, they're gorgeous! Your light blue greywing budgie is a boy for sure, he seems fairly young. From the pictures I can't see if he has moulted yet or not, judging by the cere I'd say he is about 4 -5 months old.
Your normal green budgie is younger, from the pictures it looks male to me too, he is about 3 months old.

I'm also trying to figure out what type budgies they are. I assume that Watson (green) is a regular green, but I'm confused about Sherlock. He is not quite as white as in the photo (kind of blown out), but the blue is fairly accurate. Will his white crown get larger? I've been reading the various descriptions, and his tail would best be described as color infused grey. His cheek patches are grey/blue...I think!

Thanks! I'm hoping to get at least two more budgies, but these two will do for quite a while. They are so adorable! I just love 'em. Both have eaten millet from me, although Watson (green) will get closer to me than Sherlock will.

In my above post I mentioned their colour mutations. Your Sherlock looks a lot like my Dinda, looking at his pictures, the cheek patches seem to be light violet to me. My guess is he is a sky blue greywing budgie. As to his crown, if he hasn't moulted out his baby bars on the forehead, then yes, he will have his forehead feathers all white.

Thanks for all the info, aluz. I hadn't seen your post when I started typing out mine!

One of the problems I'm having is that one bird is flighted, and one isn't. (You can probably tell from the photos.) Anyway, I am having to arrange the cage in such a manner as to allow Watson to be able to move about easily, and doesn't leave room for flight in their smallish cage. I am planning on getting an HQ flight cage, where I hope to have four budgies total.

My parrotlet is in the largest Vision cage available, and he has plenty of space to do his laps.
