Dusty and Spangle have been together for the past week and are getting on just fine, though I haven't yet witnessed them mating. Spangle has been very flirtatious, and is constantly feeding Dusty who has a very gentle nature and enjoys his attention. I've noticed today that she's spending longer periods inside the nest box, with Spangle standing guard outside. As it's only been a week, I'm sure she's just doing a bit of housekeeping, but you never know...
I think you are selling yourself short there Eamon... From the sound of it you definitely have a clutch on the
In all honesty I rarely see mine mating unless I just happen to be in the right place at the right time, or I have an overly.. enthusiastic.. pair Most mating takes place when they very first wake up before we are looking, and does not mean you have less of a chance of fertility
You're probably right, L. We'll see how it goes. The main thing now is that they have everything they need. We had snow today so they didn't got outside. Hopefully we'll have a bit of sun tomorrow and they'll get their bit of air. Thanks for your encouragement.
