Smile Most prized childhood photos

Sometimes it's good to remember our childhood days, so I decided to take some of my best budgie related pictures from my photo album and download them to my computer.
My mother was kind enough to record these precious moments, as these chicks were the first I got from my first time breeding my birds (under my mother's close watch). At this time I must have been 8 - 9 years old and did all the work in cleaning the cages, feeding all the birds, taming the chicks and making the whole flock happy!

Here I am, very proud to having these chicks and blessed to have grown up with pet birdies all around me.

3 chicks on my lap, 1 on my finger

As you can see, I had 3 lutinos and a normal dark green

A close up pic for you to see they were all wanting to be close to me. Two of them are lovingly looking up at me.

You can see a pattern here, one of the lutinos was always in my hand, that was my precious girl Popinha, she turned out being the best female I ever had and she had beautiful, sweet tempered chicks.

Here I am now at 31 years old and the budgie bug is stronger than ever, I just can't imagine life without these little friends!

These pictures are beyond precious. They especially strike a cord with me because that's the age my daughter is now (9) and I'm so happy she'll be able to have these experiences and hopefully look back on them with the same fondness when she's older.

Thank you for sharing your childhood pictures, your budgies looked like a very sweet and loving little flock and you looked so happy being with them.

Those are beautiful photos Aluz It's lovely when someone finds their passion young, and it's encouraged and nurtured to grow into a livelong love.

One of my twins is very much like that. Reptiles and birds are her 'thing.' She does a lot of the work with our birds and someday, down the line when we move on to pairing and breeding, I will let her take the lead if she chooses. She's the first 8 year old I've ever met who, when asked what she wants to do when she's older, replies with 'I want to work in conservation and bird of prey rehabilitation'. As a parent, you have to grab that and run with it and support them. You must've had great parents

You're welcome, Allie and I thank you too for commenting.
These chicks were like baby brothers and sisters to me, since I was the youngest and never had a younger sibling to play with.
I have always been good with animals since a very early age and my father got my first pair of budgies when I was 5 years old.
My parents taught me how to care for them and saw how interested and responsible I was in tending my pet birdies needs and later allowed me to breed them. I grew up owning a flock and breeding a chosen couple of pairs twice a year. I only took a break from breeding when it was time for me to go to university.

Thank you NumNum! Indeed I was very lucky and blessed and still am to have both my parents around. And it's true that some very special 8 or 9 year olds can do much when it comes to taking care of their beloved pets and even embark on a breeding journey (under parents supervision) and learn a lot about life, love and the wonderful miracles of nature.

Budgie bug bit early...what adorable pics. So special that you actually have them. Your pics reminded me of this pic of my daughter when she was about 8. She LOVES small rodents. She had that hamster for 3 years before he died, she took such good care of him. He was the sweetest hamster. Now she has two guinea pigs and is trying to convince me to let her get a mouse, lol
