Default My new Budgie

His name is Loki. We are having a thunder storm so lighting is bad I will post something thats better once he settles in. Rainbow is happy. He started to sing as soon as he saw him. Looks like he has a broken or loose feather I think they botched his wing clipping. Also the birds were starving. females were nesting in the food bowls and stopping the others from eating so now he will be a well loved bird

You can not tell because of the lighting conditions but he has a dark Teal back and tail and his tummy is a light teal. It looks sky blue but it is teal under normal light

Your new budgie is beautiful...I have both of my budgies wings the same length as when you have one side clipped the breeder told me that when they fly they can hurt themselves when landing on the floor so I have both wings even.... He is adorable....

I know I am taking a chance but he comes from the same batch of birds and cage as snowflake, rainbow and oliver came from so they all know one another already. I believe snow and rainbow recognize him for they greeted him.

Its a gorgeous budgie!

BUT, *you* aren't taking a chance on yourself ... You are putting your other birds at risk. They may have come from the same place, but time has passed and not only can things develop bacterially, but new incoming budgies can also be carriers.

That's why quarantine is such an important thing to practice.

Cute addition to your flock. If you are not going to quarantine perhaps you could find a vet that would be willing to at least check the poop. I have had 2 youngsters in quarantine for 5 weeks they seem perfectly fine, eating, playing no runny droppings. I took them to the vet yesterday for their initial check up, thinking that all would be fine and they could join the others. The male is fine but the female has too much bacteria in her droppings so now they are both being treated and must spend another 2 weeks in quarantine.
